Lights! Camera! Action!


LIGHTS! CAMERA! ACTION! – The Film Sessions at the Hayward Gallery


The Hayward Gallery is running a programme of film workshops for young people in response to its forthcoming programme of exhibitions. Participants do not need prior experience of filmmaking but must be enthusiastic, committed and available on all of the dates for the workshop they are interested in. The workshops are FREE and open to young people aged 14 – 18.
The selected young people on each workshop will be involved in all aspects of production from screenwriting, through performance and direction to post-production and editing.

Intimate
A workshop leading to the production of a short film that looks at sexual metaphor in the movies. Led by Orville Jay Edwards, participants will look at sexual representation and consequently should be aged 16 – 18.
Workshop dates: Sat 19 - Sat 26 Nov 2005, 11am - 5pm

NEXT WORKSHOP
Universal Boarder
Skateboarding is an internationally popular sport and devoted skaters are as likely to remember their skateboard as their passport when they go on holiday. This workshop is aimed at skateboarders and will be led by filmmaker and skater Winstan Whitter, director of "Rollin' Thru The Decades". Workshop dates: Mon 9 Jan - Thurs 12 Jan, Mon 16 Jan - Thurs 19 Jan and Mon 23 - Thurs 26 Jan 2006,11am - 5pm (Suitable for ages 14 - 18)

Winter Light
Filmmaker Mark Aitken will lead these workshops to coincide with the Hayward Gallery's exhibition of the fluorescent light installations of the American artist Dan Flavin… The participants will look at colour and light in film and will create a short drama that uses these techniques to heighten dramatic impact. (Ages 14 - 18)
Workshop dates: Sat 11 Feb - Fri 17 Feb 2006, 11am - 5pm

Surrealism
Participants will work with film company Davey Inc to create a short drama that responds to the influence of surrealism and music. This workshop is most suitable for young people aged 16 -18.
Workshop dates: Sat 18 Feb - Fri 24 Feb 2006, 11am - 5pm (there will be some follow on workshops in post production, dates t.b.c)
