Hayward Projects at Lambeth Town Hall

The Hayward Gallery and London Printworks Trust would like to invite you to the launch of an exhibition at:
Lambeth Town Hall, Brixton Hill, Brixton on Wednesday 1 March 2006 between 6pm and 8pm

This exhibition, organised by London Printworks Trust, reflects some of the projects that the Hayward Gallery has run with young people from Lambeth and is a testament to the creativity of the people of this most dynamic of London boroughs.

The works on display include images from Happy Holidays and The Extreme Travel Show. These two short films were made during the summer holidays and were consequently exhibited in the Hayward Gallery during the Universal Experience exhibition before getting a big screen showing at the National Film Theatre. The participants worked with Chocolate Films to learn new filmmaking skills and used digital technology to create these advertisements for out of this world holidays.

The Hayward Gallery collaborated with artist David Blandy and Danielle Arnaud Contemporary Art to make the film Utopian Visions with pupils from Lilian Baylis Technology School. The young people filmed themselves talking about their dreams and aspirations in front of a green screen image of their selected dream destination

As part of the Africa Remix exhibition at the Hayward Gallery, photographer Ben Johnson led a one-day photo shoot in Salon Afrique at the Royal Festival Hall. Models in this photo shoot had their photographs taken with friends and family in a mixture of African and western dress.

Images from these workshops are currently on show in the Town Hall and during this launch there will also be the opportunity to view the films; 'Utopian Visions', 'Happy Holidays' and 'The Extreme Travel Show' over a glass of wine and to meet some of the participants and artists involved
